Bulletin for Christmas Eve Services 4:00PM & 7:00PM

In winter’s deepest night, we welcome the light of the Christ child. Isaiah declares that the light of the
long-promised king will illumine the world and bring endless peace and justice. Paul reminds us that the
grace of God through Jesus Christ brings salvation to all people. The angels declare that Jesus’ birth is
good and joyful news for everyone, including lowly shepherds. Filled with the light that shines in our
lives, we go forth to share the light of Christ with the whole world.
(*) Please stand as you are able
(-) Please be seated
The Holy Spirit calls us together as the people of God.
P: Blessed be the holy Trinity, ☩ one God, the Word made flesh, our life and our salvation.
C: Amen.
P: Trusting the goodness and lovingkindness of God our Savior, let us confess our sin.
Silence is kept for reflection.
P: God of life, you promise good news of great joy for all people,
C: and call us to be messengers of your peace.
P: We confess that too often we hoard our joy, our resources, and our security.
C: We nurture conflict and build barriers. We neglect the needs of our neighbors and
ignore the groaning of creation. Have mercy on us.
P: Where we are self-centered,
C: open our hearts.
P: Where we are reluctant,
C: give us courage.
P: Where we are cynical,
C: restore our trust.
P: Renew us with your grace given through your Son, whose birth we celebrate tonight.
C: Give us again the light and hope of new life in you. Amen.
P: Hear the good news: In ☩ Jesus we are forgiven and redeemed! We are children of God and heirs of
God’s promises through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit! Sing with joy, for the Light shines in the
darkness and the darkness does not overcome it!
C: Amen!

deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and
ever. Amen.

“GO AND…” – JANUARY-Rest At the start of the new year, we are pushed to get organized, exercise more, and make New Year’s resolutions. How do we take rest among all this? What does it
mean to be like Jesus? It means taking time to pause, rest, and embrace the day. That might mean
taking a nap, getting together with old friends, reading a good book, or enjoying the arts as we recognize God makes all things new.
Questions to consider: What brings you rest? What does Sabbath mean for you? What does it
look like in your life? Let GO, what are you going to give up this year so that you can rest?
Prayer: O God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as
yet untrodden, through perils and joys unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing
where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us; through Jesus Christ our
Lord. Amen.
