Twenty-third Sunday after Pentecost (Luke 21:5-19)
Today is the Twenty-third Sunday after Pentecost. During the season of Pentecost we learn about Jesus and the early church. Next Sunday is Christ the King Sunday and then the following Sunday Advent begins.
Today we hear about Jesus teaching near the temple.
Watch the video to find out what Jesus said:
Jesus was teaching near the temple. As people noticed how beautiful the temple was, decorated with beautiful stones, Jesus taught them about God. He said that one day the temple would be gone! He said the temple wouldn’t last forever, but God’s love will! Jesus said that even when there are difficult times and bad things happen, God’s love will be strong. Jesus said that people might tell things about God that aren’t true, but not to listen to them. He said that no matter what, God is always with us and God’s love is forever.
The words that Jesus taught that day near the temple are true and they are for us. Jesus wants us to know that even when we are afraid or when we face difficult things, God is with and God’s love is forever!
What do you love about your church building?
How does it help to know God is always with you and always loves you?
How does God help you when you get scared?
Never Let Go of Me. LifeTree Kids.
Play the Minute to Win It Game “Ready Spaghetti” to build a small tower. The temple was built, but it could, and would, fall down, but God’s love stands strong. Watch the video for instructions.
Play a game of Jenga. Our worldly structures will fall, but God’s love stands strong and is forever.
Dear God, your love is so strong. Thank you for loving us. Sometimes we are scared, but we know that you are always with us and your love is forever. Help us stand stand strong. Amen.
